The National Partnership for Library Development

ASD
The National Partnership for Library Development is the key advisory and advocative body of the Library Development Program. It embraces figures from various areas of social life, people who believe in the sense of revitalizing small local libraries and are able to win others over to this idea. There are more than one hundred representatives of the world of science, art, economy, media, politics and the NGO sector who fulfill the role of friendly but at the same time demanding advisors.
 
 
  1. Andrzej Arendarski, PhD – expert in economics and economic activist, co-founder and President of the National Chamber of Commerce, former Minister of Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and former member of the Seym (Parliament).
     
  2. Prof. Jerzy Axer - classicist, Dean of the Warsaw University Faculty of Polish Studies (1980-87), initiator of the Center for Studies on the Classical Tradition in Poland and East-Central Europe at Warsaw University and in Collegium Artes Liberales.
     
  3. Jerzy Baczyński - journalist, Editor-in-Chief of the Polityka weekly.
     
  4. Ewa Balcerowicz, PhD – economist, co-founder and President of the Board of the CASE Foundation – Center for Social and Economic Research, member of the Polish Economists' Association.
     
  5. Maria Baranowska, PhD – Secretary of the Scientific Council of NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network).
     
  6. Julia Barlińska - psychologist, Nobody's Children Foundation, Safe Internet Academy program.
     
  7. Helena Bednarska – Director of the Provincial Public Library and Culture  Development Center in Poznań, Secretary of the National Council of Libraries.
     
  8. Marta Białek – cultural manager, member of the Management Board of the Association of the Creative Initiatives "ę".
     
  9. Elżbieta Bieńkowska - Minister of Regional Development.
     
  10. Anna Bikont – background in psychology, in the period of martial law she was editor of the underground Tygodnik Mazowsze weekly, since 1989 she has worked in the Gazeta Wyborcza daily; her publications include Wisławy Szymborskiej pamiątkowe rupiecie, przyjaciele i sny (Wisława Szymborska's Commemorative Bric-À-Brac, Friends and Dreams), Lawina i kamienie. Pisarze wobec komunizmu (Avalanch and Stones. Writers vis-à-vis Communism) (both written together with Joanna Szczęsna); My z Jedwabnego (We from Jedwabne).
     
  11. Jacek Bocheński – writer, translator, publicist, from the 1970s connected with the democratic opposition, co-founder and editor of the Zapis literary magazine (from 1977, in samizdat), President of the Polish Literary PEN Club (1997-99).
     
  12. Henryka Bochniarz – Doctor of Economics, President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan, Deputy Chairperson of the Tripartite Commission for Socio-Economic Affairs, Vice-President of UNICE, the European Union's largest organization of employers.
     
  13. Dariusz Bogucki, PhD, Eng. – implementer of the first edition of the Ikonk@ program, expert in the area of new information technologies.
     
  14. Michał Boni, PhD - politician, cultural expert, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers and Head of the Team of Strategic Advisors to the Prime Minister; in the 1980s he was research worker at Warsaw University and activist of the Solidarity movement, in the 1990s he was Minister and twice Deputy Minister of Labor.
     
  15. Ryszard Bugaj, PhD – politician, Habilitated Doctor of Economic Sciences, staff member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), former leader of the Labor Union, member of the Seym (Parliament), 2009-2010 economic advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland.
     
  16. Dariusz Bugalski – poet, journalist, radio and television reporter.
     
  17. Prof. Jerzy Buzek – Professor of Engineering Sciences, community activist, President of the European Parliament (from 2009.07.14), Member of the European Parliament from 2004, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland from 1997 to 2001.
     
  18. Tomasz Chlebowski, PhD - astronomer, for 18 years he carried out research activity and published his works in Poland and in the USA, in the 1990s he established a group of IT companies named TCH, former Vice-President of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications, former Sales & Marketing Director at NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network).
     
  19. Krzysztof Czyżewski – idea practitioner, Director of the Borderland Center of Arts, Cultures and Nations and President of the Borderland Foundation.
     
  20. Jarosław Deminet, PhD – specialist in the area of information society, Director of the Government Legislation Center Department of the Journal of Laws and 'Monitor Polski', member of the Management Board of the Polish Information Technology Association.
     
  21. Witold Drożdż - lawyer, Vice-President of PGE Energia Jądrowa SA, former Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration and former Chairman of the Interdepartmental Committee on the Implementation of the “Digital Poland” Program.
     
  22. Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, PhD - biologist, Head of the Bioenergetics and Cell Membrane Laboratory at the M. Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Warsaw, former Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Michał Jaworski – Director at Microsoft responsible for technological strategy, the company's longest-serving staff member in Poland, member of the Council and Vice-President on Information Society Development at the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications; co-implemented Internet for Schools and Interkl@sa programs.

  83. Andrzej Seweryn – theater and movie actor, film director; in 1993 engaged by Comédie-Française as the third foreigner in the history of French theater.
     
  84. Bohdan Skrzypczak – community activist, member of Ashoka, an international association of innovators for the public, author of the Przystanek Olecko (Olecko Stop) integration initiative, President of the Local Activity Support Center – CAL Association.
     
  85. Grażyna Staniszewska – member of the Seym (Parliament) of the Republic of Poland from 1989, 2004-2009 Member of the European Parliament; initiator of the Interkl@sa program preparing young people for living comfortably in the information society.
     
  86. Krzysztof Stanowski – Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for development and economic cooperation, the first chief scout instructor of the Scouting Association of the Republic (ZHR), from 1989 connected with the Education for Democracy Foundation (FED) – author and implementor of educational programs in Poland, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
     
  87. Joanna Staręga-Piasek, PhD – politician, community activist, member of the Seym (Parliament) of the Republic of Poland, former Deputy Minister of Labor, co-author of the Law on Social Assistance and the Charter of Rights for People with Disabilities, currently Director of the Institute of Social Services.
     
  88. Elżbieta Stefańczyk – Chairperson of the Polish Librarians' Association, Deputy Director of the National Library.
     
  89. Anna Streżyńska – lawyer specializing in the issues of domestic and European telecommunications law and the media as well as the issues of competition and consumer protection, from 2005 to 2006 she was Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure where she was responsible for communication, currently President of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE).
     
  90. Jacek Strzemieczny – co-founder, Director and President of the Center for Citizenship Education.

Jan Szomburg, PhD – Doctor of Economic Sciences, founder and President of the Gdańsk Institute for Market Economics, co-author of the first mass privatization program (privatization coupons) in Eastern Europe, Director of the Polish Lisbon Strategy Forum and initiator and organizer of Citizen Congresses from 2005.
     
  93. Wisława Szymborska - poet, essayist, member of the Polish Academy of Learning (PAU), awarded the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature. 
  94. Teresa Szymorowska – Director of the Provincial Public Library - Copernicus Library in Toruń,  Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Conference of Directors of Provincial Libraries.
     
  95. Alek Tarkowski, PhD – sociologist working at the Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computer Modeling, member of the Team of Strategic Advisors to the Prime Minister.
     
  96. Olga Tokarczuk – writer, screenwriter, poet; co-organizer of the Storytelling Festival; her book Bieguni (Runners) won the Nike Award 2008.
     
  97. Beata Tokarz – sociologist specializing in the development of elderly people, intergenerational cooperation, works in the Association of Creative Initiatives "ę".

  99. Agata Tuszyńska – prose writer, poet, reporter and the historian of literature and theater; laureate of the Ksawery Pruszyński Award of the Polish Literary PEN Club.
     
  100. Andrzej Wajda – film and theater director, co-author of the Polish school of filmmaking, Oscar winner, member of the Senate of the Republic of Poland of the 1st term from 1989 to 1991.

Irena Wóycicka - economist, social politician, currently the Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, former Deputy Minister of Labor, expert of the International Labor Organization, member of the Network of Independent Experts on Social Inclusion at the European Commission, expert of the Gdańsk Institute For Market Economics.
     
  105. Prof. Grażyna Wrona, PhD – Secretary of the Department of Periodical Press and Literary Culture at the Institute for Scientific Information and Library Science of the Pedagogical University of Cracow.
     
  106. Kuba Wygnański – sociologist, Vice-President of the Management Board of the Unit for Social Research and Innovation “Shipyard”, NGO activist. In the 1980s he was the activist of the Solidarity movement and Civic Committees. Co-initiator of, among others, the Forum of Non-Governmental Initiatives (FIP) and the Klon/Jawor NGO Database. From 2002 to 2003 he participated in the Yale World Fellows Program at Yale University, USA. Co-Chairman of the Council of Public Benefit Activity of the first and third (present) term.
     
  107. Krystyna Zachwatowicz - actress, director, stage and film set designer, professor of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts.
     
  108. Marta Zahorska-Bugaj, PhD – sociologist, member of the Board of the Warsaw University Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology, specializes in the sociology of education, educational policy, the social impact of education system reforms, analysis of the Polish education system; member of the Board of the Polish Sociological Association.
     
  109. Prof. Franciszek Ziejka, PhD – specialist in Polish studies, former Vice-Chancellor of the Jagiellonian University, connected with that university since 1963, active member of the Polish Academy of Learning (PAU).
     
  110. Ewa Ziółkowska – Director of the Library of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
     
  111. Piotr Zmelonek – Director of the Publishing Section of “Polityka” Spółdzielnia Pracy (Work Cooperative).
